This shop is truly a Shoe Hospital and then some! I've been taking my shoes to Alex's Shoe Hospital for years. They do great work and their hospitality is great. I'd refer the President to this shoe store if he wants to get a nice secure quick fix on his shoes! Thanks.
I've had all kinds of services done here: zipper replacement, full sole replacement, partial sole repair, shoe cleaning, tap placement on shoes, and shoe shining. While the results of these were acceptable, I was less than thrilled about the zipper replacement (poor stitching on the zipper replacement, but it's not visible 95% of the time) and the full sole replacement (poor stitching on the sole replacement). The things I wasn't pleased about were structurally sound, but were cosmetically flawed.
Their shining and cleaning service is good and the turn around for all items is usually about two to three business days.
Bought my wife $700 Redbottoms for her Birthday. Took them here to protect the bottom and there black pen lines and black glue all over them!!!! Highly pissed off.
This place is the only shoe repair place in the area. I work downtown and often take my shoes and my wife's shoes here.
I think this place is good to go to for simple repairs, but I would save complex jobs for a more skilled and delicate shop. Also, the customer service is a bit cut and dry: no banter, no joking around, just...a pretty serious encounter. Not that important because the end product is what's important, but at least you know what you're getting yourself into.
Outstanding work on at least ten pairs of shoes for my wife who needed a one inch lift. The work was flawless even on dress up shoes. When she no longer needed a lift Alex's took them off with the exact same quality results. And the shoes were finished in a very timely manner. I can't say enough about this place and quality of work.
