Great vet, best place to take your beloved pets. They're very patient and caring about you and your little ones.

Best vet in town. Most compassionate staff I've ever seen. The fees are cheaper than most others. When there was no other choice but to euthanized my sweet Katie they were so compassionate and when I tried to pay they told not to worry about it right now. They can bill me later.

I love how my fur babies are taken care of. Can always count on them.

The staff was super nice. They made both of our dogs Maggie and Jasper feel at ease and, their humans!

Our 2 year old German Shepherd was going through various bouts of diarrhea. He would be fine with healthy stools for a while, then get diarrhea randomly again. Dr. Jennifer Thibert is who we saw the last 2 times we went and she was very scared to touch my dog even though he never growls or bites and will stay when commanded very well. So I would have to hold him, open his mouth for her to see his teeth, etc. We told both vets that he had scabs forming around his mouth all the time but it was always brushed off. Then when he was having diarrhea the tests started being ordered. Stool sample came back clear and urine sample clear. This was all verbalized to us, we never received paper copies of lab results. The vet was thinking EPI and recommended an expensive blood test to check. Our dog is our baby so we were willing. We decided to try a new diet first on our own and after a week decided to get the blood test for peace of mind. We called to schedule the EPI blood test the Dr. recommended to us at our visit and we came in and they drew the blood. It ended up being $99 which I was pleasantly surprised because I had thought it was going to be more. I thought it was odd the invoice said “senior wellness profile” but I just assumed usually they only do that test on older dogs or something and it had the weird name. Nope. Come to find out they did the wrong blood test. When Dr Thibert called me back to say the test came back clean but we could still try the EPI blood test, you can imagine my surprise. I was upset and told her that was the test we wanted in the first place, and now not only did I pay $99 but I would have to pay another $200+ for this test and my dog was still sick and losing weight from his bland diet. Instead of apologizing I got a list of other things to try from her, like deworming, even though his test came back clean, maybe they just weren’t dropping in his stool samples, or probiotics, or prescription food and she just kept rattling off things and I realized she had no clue what she was doing. I called the manager, still willing to do the EPI test but wanting a refund for the senior test my 2 year old dog clearly didn’t need. And the manager said she spoke with the Dr. and the Dr. recommended that test because it was a good test as well and they would only be able to refund me half the test costs. I knew that was a complete lie because my husband and I were both in the room when she said that she would want to try the EPI blood test next, nothing about some other blood test. Long story short, we had it and went to Roseland Animal Hospital to Dr. Reed. What an amazing difference! They charged us $49 for the physical exam instead of $55 and the Dr put her hands all over our dog and even had a tech to help if needed. They looked at me shocked when I was getting on the floor to hold him but that’s all I was used to doing at South Bend! Then Dr Reed right away cued in on his mouth sores and looked all over his history and right away said she thinks he doesn’t have EPI at all because his symptoms don’t match and that would be the last step they would check into because it looks like he just has a food allergy. So we just have a new food for him. The only thing positive I can say about South Bend Animal Clinic is that they have a friendly front desk staff that I will miss, but as far as professional guidance for your dog’s wellbeing, I really recommend going some place else!
