I have been going here for years. My whole family is polish and bakers dozen has the best

Pierogies!

Top notch authentic polish bakery. Truly the best of everything. Very reasonable prices.

Went to the Farmer's Market today and spent over $50 here and I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed we were. Every single bakery item was stale. The Chrusciki was stale and soft, perhaps they had been frozen? Apple slices were also stale, the apple filling tasted very good but the crust was soft and not flaky at all. The Pązcki (I bought two flavors raspberry and custard) were again both stale and had MAYBE a tablespoon of filling in each. I cut the custard one in half and it sounded like I was cutting into crusty bread. Then there was the Kifli. I was so excited to get them, but the too were stale the dough part of the cookie was not flaky at all. These too tasted like they may have been frozen and had freezer burn or a refrigerated taste. The owner bragged that they have been open for 28 years. I cannot fathom how they get repeat customers? You cannot sell me stale food at those prices and expect to make new customers? Maybe they've become lax as of late but everything was horrible. They should be embarrassed to sell stale food. I did buy some pierogis but I have not tried them yet. I really did want to love this place. My out-of-town friends also were disappointed... I was hoping to show them the "best" of South Bend Farmer's Market but it ended up being the worst. I think the owners need to take a little less pride in how long they've been there and put more pride into their product.

First, let me tell you that I bake with the best ingredients I can find so I'm a picky customer where butter and sugar are concerned. My favorite item is the Mexican Wedding Cakes--or whatever you call those terrific little cookies dusted in powdered sugar--are amazing, leave you wanting nothing more, except maybe a cup of coffee or tea. They're unbelievably perfect. The Kolacz (you know, the poppy seed roll) also delicious, but the dough could be a bit more moist. Kiefles excellent--once again the real deal. I didn't realize there was a bake shop on Sample Street, which is great and means that I don't have to wait until Farmers' Market days. I don't know whether or not they bake with fresh fruit in season, but with summer coming on I can only hope so! Very nice ladies behind the counter, too. Pleasant experience all around.

Awesome
