I had these guys come out on a Saturday to take a look at my furnace. They charged me a $119 fee for the diagnostic, which I knew up front. Whether I agree with the $119 diagnostic fee policy or not, I had them come anyway since I assumed I'd be paying for some repairs. My home warranty is great about covering the costs of repairs, so I wasn't concerned about the diagnostic fee. It turns out that Michiana Heating & Air REFUSES to work with home warranties. They wouldn't even get on the phone with the warranty company. They apparently don't want my business or need the money. Nevermind that my home warranty company allows me to choose any contractor, nevermind that it has covered 100% of the last 5 claims I've made, nevermind that Michiana H&A would have made plenty of money from an extremely simple replacement of parts, their policy is to NEVER work with home warranty companies. Money is money, business is business. If I managed my business by refusing customers, I'd be fired. Thankfully there are plenty of companies that can do this work that are happy to have the business. The ONLY reason I used Michiana H&A is that they had someone who could come on a Saturday. I won't be calling them again. They wasted my time and my money!
To Michiana Heating & Air: Charging me $119 and then refusing to complete the repair because (in your opinion) it might be more difficult to collect payment is both shady and disrespectful. Clearly you view yourself as more important than your customers.
We always want to hire someone who will do the job right and at a fair price....But, if you also want someone who really cares about what they are doing and the people they are doing it for then you call Michiana Heating & Air Conditioning....This single dad highly recommends them and I don't give these recommendations very often.....Thanks again!
The Michiana H & AC team saved me a lot of time, confusion, and even more money today. I had contacted a competitor first (at random--I have not needed these services in my home yet). They charged me $100 for the inspection, and within 5-10 minutes, told me: (A) I was three pounds low in freon, but the type I need didn't exist anymore, and (B) I definitely needed a new AC unit. They quoted me anywhere from $4-8 for a replacement, but couldn't give me an exact amount until they showed up to complete the job. We are trying to pay for our wedding this fall, and this news made my heart drop to my feet. I decided to get a second opinion. Thank goodness I did. Michiana's team were so professional and helpful...from the dispatchers to the owner to his son who came out within an hour to take a look. As it turns out, the type of freon I needed does exist, I was only one pound low (my unit only holds four pounds total), and the unit does not need to be immediately replaced (although will need to be within a few years). They also waived the technician visit-fee because they thought I was not treated fairly by the first company. Needless to say, they will have all of my heating and cooling business in the future! Thank you, all!
I use Michiana Heating and Air-conditioning for my business, my home, and a rental house I own. These guys are the best. Super fast service when I had an emergency situation and very fair pricing. I would highly recommend!
And in general, I'd recommend going elsewhere for your service needs. This company is more concerned about getting paid - and the way they get paid - than taking care of their customers.
